Ciao!

I’m Kayla, a home cook, health coach and the face behind What Would Kayla Cook.

I grew up in a big Italian family where food wasn’t just a part of life, it was life. Some of my earliest memories are in the kitchen with my Mum and Nonna, rolling gnocchi, frying eggplant, and making the best sugo you’ve ever tasted, all without a recipe in sight.

Our family ran a wholesale fruit and veg business, so my childhood was filled with crates of vine-ripened tomatoes, summer mangoes, and basil so fragrant it made the whole house smell like Nonna’s garden. That love for good food stuck with me, even through a short-lived law career (turns out, the courtroom wasn’t my calling).

Today, I work in our family business, LaManna & Sons, a much-loved greengrocer, deli, and café in Melbourne, and spend my days cooking, sharing, and feeding people.

About Me

Meet my mum, Tania.

She’s the real inspiration behind so many of these recipes - her best-kept secrets have been passed down (and perfected!) over 35+ years. And long before that, they came from my Nonna, whose love for cooking and family is at the heart of everything we do.

From family dinners to festive feasts, Mum’s touch, and Nonna’s traditions, are in every dish I make. You’ll spot them here from time to time in my content, because some flavours are meant to be shared and passed on.
